Cancun Swine Flu Death? Man dies - Flu Suspected
A 64 year old man has died in Cancun from complications possibly associated with swine flu infection. Tests are underway to confirm.

What a Outbreak! I cannot even believe it myself. Funny how something like the flu has everybody in a World Wide Panic. Do those of you who are scared and Really concern..Did you forget about AIDS? IT’s still out there, and probably 50 times worse than when the initial outbreak had the whole world scared too! Sorry, but the media isn’t reporting it, but more people die each year from Aids then the Flu! It appears if the media pops a little bug in ones ear, the whole damn World goes nuts.. So what do they do (the Media)? Keep pushing it in our heads, thats all we hear. Swine Flu, Swine Flu, Swine Flu, and now there saying that Woops.. maybe these cases are just the regular flu. Who know’s! I have a trip planned to Cancun May 16th, and if the airlines are still flying, and Goverment doesn’t close the border, I’m Going! Just use common sence. Wash your hands well, cover your mouth when coughing/sneezing, and look at your surroundings. And to feel at ease, wear a N95 mask on public transpertation (There a Whole .99 cents)., and Eat Healthy. The World is still Spinning People! P.S. 3,800 people died last year alone from the REGULAR FLU !

I think it is a very big issue when ONE infected person (in NYC) can inflect ONE HUNDRED (search for ‘Queens’ on this blog).
That is toooo much of a human-to-human transmission.
Understand, That can happen with ANY virus. Common cold, phemonia, regular fle, ect.. It’s Great to no the info, but as alway the media doesn’t need to make it sound like it’s the End of the World! Good Lord! Not sure of your exact location on this earth, but I live in the USA, Houston Texas.
West Coast of Canada. We have infections here too. Texas is suffering bad I hear.

Evwening News just ended , and they have Doctors from our Medical Center saying the same thing I am! Over re-acting is causing World wide Panic. So your from Canada? Yea, alot of Canadians go to Cancun too.
Just saw a post at local hospital emergency here today… people from California, and Texas who have been to Mexico in the last ten days identify themselves to the triage nurse.
But you are right, scary things always cause over-reaction.
I have a trip scheduled on to Cancun (May 14th-17th). I am taking my mom for Mother’s Day gift. I hate to cancel but I am concerned that we will get down there and the shops, restaurants, tours, will be closed or cancelled. I did plan on a trip to Chichen Itza but just read that both it and Tulum have been closed.
I am with Lee in that there are viruses and flus and AIDS all around us at all times, but want to ensure my Mom has the best time on her 1st Mexico trip. To go or not to go?? That is the questions…Arrgghhh
Woops hit send. Anywasy they are right to the point of saying NO, WERE NOT GOING! We had planned this trip over a year ago. I just want to get to my villa, sit on the beach and suck down a few of those cocktails with the umberalla’s in them, and just relax. Then go dive for a couple days, and Relax for a couple more (and don’t forget those cocktails too), and then come home. I did purchase a box of N95 mask, gloves, hand sanatizer for the other couple. IF I feel the need, I will wear a mask, and I always wash my hands good anyways, Were flying from Houston (I think, hope, LOL) so 2 hours of looking like a doctor isn’t that bad! If your going, drop me a line. Hell.. we might be the only ones there! LOL HAve a Great Day! SMILE

Our family of 9 are planning on going to cancun for 1 week (May 13th) at first when this HUGE issue came out about the swine flu I was going to cancel right of way, but now they are saying its not as bad as they first thought, so now we are planning on going - heck I live in Maryland and we have 21 confirmed cases,who’s to say we wont get sick here, My doctor was nice enough to give us all a prescription for that tamaflu (just in case) so we are excited about going, just need to stop listening to the media, they are the ones who put the fear in you. Hope everyone out there thats going has a blast!
I called the Hotel where we are planning to stay next week on our trip and the hard rock cafe in cancun today. Everything is open including all tours are there are no confirmed cases there. We are going to go as planned on the 13th as well.

They get all of the details that we never hear of too. Way before the news and media get to blow it WAY out perportion. He like your gave me a scrip for Tamaflu too. I’m not scared! But finally the couple that were going with us Finally canceled and decided not to go! Oh well. More room in the House/Villa! This is our first time, and the Villa looks Wonderful and private, but get ready to shove some bucks… Best way to afford is to do it with a couple couples.They all have private pools, jacuzzi’s. King beds, and Master Baths in all the rooms… I can give you more info when we get back.. I can give you info on the cruise though! Did it last year.. Jamaica, Grand Camens, and Cozmel.. Oh yea, Been to Cancun Several times. Are you staying on the south side, or twards town? If I were to take my mom, I’d most likley like to keep her south of cancun. In the area around Cancun Palace ect.. Further in town are where all the young Crazy, party kids go! (Nothing Wrong with that, if she likes to Party!)LOL Just stay off public transportation. (If you ever road on the bus route, I’m sure you can relate, although it’s a cheap way to travel in Cancun. Taxi’s are almost as bad. Just get some of that liquid hand sanatizer to carry in your purse. You know, the kind that evaporates. Wsah your hands everywhere you go. And take PeptoBisbo <~~ Spelling. With this Swine Food going on, I think everybody is forgetting about eatting the food, and drinking the water. 2 tabs of pepto a day (Need it or not) will do the trick. Your speaking to long sourse survivor. Been there, done that…MAke your own ice cubes too with bottle water.
