Relenza Antiviral Durg: What is it ?
Relenza antiviral drug (zanamavir) is one of the two medications deemed effective against swine flu virus. It is taken as enhaled powder, for typically twice per day for 5 days. It can also be taken once a day for up to 28 days for people who are exposed to high risk of flu.
You should take Relenza up to two days after symptoms of swine flu are evident. This is a prescription drug, so that is the only way it should be taken.
Who should taken Relenza?
In case of swine flu epidemic, it is one of the drugs that would help adults ana children over the age of five fight swine flu symptioms.
Who should not take it?
Relenaza may cause serious breathing problems, and should not be taken by anyone with lung diseases.
Side effects of Relenza include nasal irritation, getting dizzy, and joint pain. There are also more serious side effects including but not limited to difficulty in breathing.
Pregnant women must inform their doctor of their condition prior to takin Relenza.
