Mexico Flu Outbreak: Should you cancel your trip ?
In the string of bad news coming out of Mexico (the crime cartels) we now a potentially more deadly problem, with worldwide ramifications, namely the outbreak of flu. According to Mexican authorities, at least 20 people have been killed because of the swine flu.
To make matters worse, CDC reports that the strain of flu is related to the one that killed multiple peoples in southern US.
Mexico has 500k vaccines, not enough. Authorities have told people to avoid hospitals, since they can easily get infected there.
CDC says Americans should not avoid going to Mexico. So how about Cancun? Cancun is somewhat isolated from the rest of Mexico, so I would watch the news closely about disease developments in that area. I am not so sure about going. I think it is better to be safe than sorry, and wait for this epidemic to subside. So if you have booked your travel, maybe you can delay /cancel?

I have my trip planned for the 17th to Cancun. By than, maybe with some luck it will subside. We are still going. We don’t live our lives in fear. We aren’t so much worried about getting Swine flu as we are worried they will quarentine us there. This whole swine flu thing has gotten way outta control!!!! Bring on the margaritas!!
Kate, I am with you! We are planning on going May 17th as well. We have had to make some changes with our flight but as of right now we are still going. With the way that the cases are growing here, I figure I would rather be drunk on a beach and get it than sitting at my desk at the hospital I work at. Maybe we will see you there!
I go every year…no swine flu will stop me now! Haha. Where are you staying!? We’ll be at oasis cancun! Cheap is good
