Last summer, while in Cancun, Mexico, we visited Cenote Azul, which is on the highway down South from Cancun. The place has a small admission fee, adminstered by a family which lives there. There are actually a number of other cenotes around, but this is the only one that we visited.

Anyways, this is a large cenote with very clear and deep water. There’s a ton of fish in there. The fun thing to do is to climb over a ledge and jump down into this clear fresh cool water! It would be good if you bring snorkling gear along. There’s not too many amenities in this place (very natural you can say).

I have taken multiple parties to this magical place, and they have all said that this was the best part of their trip. It is really not very touristy, as the tourist brochures don’t mention it (no money in it).
